Everyone that the Father is giving to me shall be arriving toward me,

And those coming toward me I should under no circumstances be casting out,

That’s why I descended from the heavens,

Not that I should be doing my will but the Will of him sending me.

In today’s post I wish to look at a mysterious saying of Yeshua that many of his present day followers find difficult to understand. I believe that many  Christian interpretations have missed the key to grasping the practical lessons embedded within this esoteric gem from the Nazarene. The key that I will use to reveal the hands-on applications that lie within this supposed mystical discourse is the recently discovered psycho-spiritual tool known as mimetic theory. Let me explain.

Yeshua has just fed the multitude with a multiplied sardine bread combo that satisfied their natural hunger. Having just discovered a new miracle worker in their midst the grasping crowd are now chasing him down for more of his mystical magic. However, the Galilean prophet isn’t carried away by the adulation of the throng as he engages them in discussion; a revealing heart to heart about their founding fathers’ eating habits on the way to the promised land. Back then, their starving ancestors were just glad to get their bellies filled with miraculous daily manna, a gift from their Deliverer God, YHWH. The Nazarene holy man hints that the Hebrew travellers had missed the whole point of their manna diet, just like his present audience, those baying for more Messianic thrills. This is where we encounter the above declaration from Yeshua.

I AM the Bread of life.

Most Christian comment claims that Yeshua is here declaring his divine nature, claiming that he too came from the Divine realm, like the supernatural manna of the wilderness. I have no problem with that but we can, if we wish, read it slightly differently, seeing YHWH, the I AM THAT I AM, as the Bread of life. Most interpretations perceive this life to be eternal in nature, the life of post death experience, yet surely this life is in the here and now, our day-to-day space-time adventure as lived through our soul-psyche. In the Eternal Now of Divine perspective perhaps both these forms of life are one and the same.

Here Yeshua unpacks a great mystery, one with earthly applications. The Galilean realises that all human relationships are mimetic or imitative in nature. We find our perceptions of Self in the other, being drawn to the apparent metaphysical solidity of their personhood. The Self image that we currently hold is a collage of all that we have admired in others to date. No-one is truly their own man. The autonomy of the psyche-soul is a delusion, one that brings in its wake much psychological suffering and pain.

Understanding this, Yeshua reveals himself as an object of human desire. For those drawn into the sphere of his Being, those attached by a gut-felt, metaphysical desire, will not be disappointed. All human relationships of Model and follower eventually end in tears of separation and rivalry. Expulsion and broken relationship is the norm in the world of skewed desire. However, Yeshua claims that ultimately it won’t happen to those attracted to him. Ultimately, because it often happens to the most zealous of disciples along the Way. Simon Peter is a classic example of one who entered the dangerous role of Monstrous Double or Adversary, one who rivaled with his Master Model in attempting to stop him going up to Jerusalem to die. Yet, even such a head strong follower as the Galilean fisherman, finally got it, albeit after his Model’s future demise and unexpected comeback.

The reason that we can desire what Yeshua desires and come into his freedom, is because the Nazarene will never rival back. He will never become a Monstrous Double, one fighting us for a share of Being, for all Being resides within him, the incarnated Tao-Logos. When we understand this newly revealed gravitational dynamic and its accompanying realignment process, we are free to move into a world of desire that is ‘vertical’ rather than remain in the horizontal version where rivalry and ultimate violence prevail.

And he believing into me will under no circumstances be thirsting……..

At first glance this little nugget only seems to echo the radical message of the previous hungering statement, yet there resides here a subtle but important further unpacking of the whole mimetic or imitative process. In this declaration Yeshua replaces coming to with believing into. Modern day Yeshua followers are frankly obsessed with belief. Doctrine and dogma have become the battle fields upon which much spilt spiritual energy and blood lies crying out from holy ground, like the blood of the mythic Abel, the victim of the Founding murder. For many of us intellectually believe the right things concerning the Nazarene has replaced the believing into of this poignant statement.

So what’s the difference?

Well, intellectual belief is always operates in the sphere of the psyche-soul, our interface with this space-time realm. Hence it always contains the potential to be a weapon of our defensive and often counter-attacking ego. In ancient Middle Eastern spirituality belief was a process of trust or letting go, a lying back into the object believed into. Yeshua’s words reflect such a release, with its resulting movement into the very essence of his Being. Like Han’s Solo’s Millenium Falcon being drawn into the hold of the giant Death Star, only flipped from the Dark Side!

I would suggest that such a believing into Yeshua releases something fresh and altogether other within our weary psyches; an unlimited watering from Divine Source itself, a thirst quenching drink of Holy Breath that heals our psychic pains.

Here Yeshua suggests that the mimetic process at work in his followers doesn’t originate with him; rather, all those drawn into his desire field have somehow been placed there by his God, the Father or ‘Abba’ with whom he himself was in mimesis. Once touched by Yeshua’s all-consuming desire matrix the only way to go seems to be towards him. Perhaps this gives a Divine slant on the whole free-will ~ destiny debate that continues to confuse those of a theological bent!

And those coming toward me I should under no circumstances be casting out,

 

This little phrase has been hijacked by many Christian interpreters to build a case for eternal salvation, the great escape from the dreaded fires of hell. Such a fundamentalist  fire insurance  take on Yeshua’s words  is, I believe, extremely wide of his original meaning. Here is what I believe he is saying.

‘Those who are realigned into my desire field and grow into my likeness through desire exchange will never have to worry about me turning on them. Even though they become like me, I will never expel them or do them violence, unlike human Models. I will never become your Model Obstacle, the one to scapegoat you out of my Presence and Being.’

In other words, the desire link up with Yeshua is the only truly safe relationship that we can have during our space-time journey.

That’s why I descended from the heavens,

Yeshua claims here that, like the miracle manna, his Being is sourced in the Divine. The psycho-spiritual freedom that he enjoys has its origins in his Divine connection with the Transcendent Father, the One who, being Being itself, doesn’t need to rival with anyone for a sense of Self. Such a Divinity has no need to measure itself against the creatures that it has birthed. It is supremely Self-defining, yet wishing to share this freedom with its mirror images. For such a mission was the Nazarene sent – an awakening to the possibility of a rivalry free communion with our Source Spirit.

Not that I should be doing my will but the Will of him sending me. 

In taking on this task Yeshua reveals the secret of his commissioning; he has voluntarily been absorbed by the mimetic desire or will of the transcendent Other, the very passion that holds the Cosmos together. In other words, Yeshua the man, demonstrated that once a desire connection is established with Divine Love, and the skewed desire of ego set aside, we can all return to the freedom of the sons and daughters of God. Realigned with Holy Breath, the Divine essence in space-time we can run through life, free from Model Obstacle and Monstrous Double relational constraints, loosed from the gravitational pull of others who vie for psychic clones. Now if that isn’t life abundantly then I don’t know what is!

In today’s post I wish to revisit some well-known words accredited to the Johannine stream of the early Yeshua movement, hopefully opening them up to a broader and more exciting take on the Mystery that is the Godhead.

In beginning was the Tao/Logos

And the Tao/Logos was toward God ……..

Outside space-time there is no beginning as such. Was the writer referring here to the timeless Eternal Now where Divine Love dwells or just is? Or is he alluding to the beginning of space-time itself? Either way, he seems to suggest that the Creative Intelligence or Organising Principle of Chinese and Greek philosophical thought is the great Constant in what we perceive to be existence. The Tao/Logos always was and in some strange relational way constantly gazes into the face of Divine Love itself. This mysterious connection and directional flow of life appears to be central to all that the writer goes on to expound.

All was coming into being through it

And apart from it nothing has yet come into being …..

All that exists outside this Eternal Essence is birthed and continues to have its being in and through its Divine Self. Nothing lies outside its Organisational Mind and Creative Energy. Everything that truly is hangs on the transcendent coat stand of its Being.

In it was life

And the life was the light of humanity.

Life, whatever life truly is, finds its origins in the Tao/Logos. It is the womb from which this consciousness that we call life has emerged. In some mysterious way there exists a deep union between life and light. In our space-time world light is a must for the propagation of life. In Ultimate Reality, the Divine Life reveals its Presence as Light, a Light that is meant for the spiritual eyes of mankind; a Divine radiance that targets the heart of humanity.

And the light is appearing in the darkness

And the darkness grasped it not.

Where does darkness dwell but in the fragmented psyche of our inner self? Does darkness have any independent existence apart from our wounded souls. Is it real as the Tao/Logos is real. Or is it a virtual reality dream world created by the trauma of withdrawn love. Whatever its essence it is impossible for such darkness to keep Divine Light at bay. Once it has decided to shine the Light of the Tao/Logos can enter the world of our psychic darkness at will. Yet if we cling to the inner darkness that promises to protect us from further rejection and psychic wounding we can remain blind to the revelation of Ultimate Reality via the ever-present Light. Preferring to remain in the apparent safety of our programmed darkness we miss the liberating life and wholeness of the visiting Light.

There’s one thing for sure: we cannot escape the Presence of the Tao/Logos even if we bury our heads in the psychic sand of our fragmented self. When we chose to open our eyes to Ultimate Reality, tired of our days of darkness, our whole world will take on a new splendour. Like a previously shuttered window now opened to the stream of sunshine and its generating warmth, our cold, dried out soul will welcome the transforming Life of the Tao/Logos. No longer will life be a struggle to survive in the jungle of our misperceived reality but a joyful Dance in the Eternal Light, a wild abandon to the underpinning Love that holds the whole space-time thing together. A Presence that now carries the illusory load of our fear filled psyche, One in which we can lie back and kick off the shoes of Self Effort and religious duty.

Spiritual Abuse ~ The Great Escape

In my previous posts I looked at how we enter into spiritual abuse and how we are locked into it, through a desire matrix and its covering narrative. Today I want to look at how we get out from under such abuse and its controlling mindset.

Let’s face it; it’s not easy to pull off The Great Escape; many of us remain in such abuse environments for decades of our precious space-time existence before finally leaving. What I wish to do is look at the dynamics of our departure and help explain our sudden shift into freedom.

In theory our Will or free Will should help us break away from both the spiritual abuser and his abusive group. In this ideal world we just decide to walk away having coolly examined the facts of our emotional imprisonment. Yet in practice this is far from the case. We are puppets pulled by the subliminal desire strings of the abuser and their metaphysical vision. In such a closeted setting our will appears to miss the point completely, having come into subjugation to the feel good factor of belonging to such a committed group of fellow believers.

Let me suggest that our awakening to the reality of our religious involvement can come in only one of two ways.

1) Expulsion

2) Transpersonal Crisis

Expulsion

The psychic hold that operates through desire transference between Model and Disciple is an extremely strong bond, giving us a sense of social belonging and involvement in a higher purpose. It works well for a time, producing the illusion that we are bang in the center of the Divine Will; a garden of metaphysical pleasure where the religious roses seem to be permanently in bloom. However, as we press into our Model and their infectious desire, a strange metamorphosis begins to take place. Birthed by sincerity and mimetic imitation we gradually become clones of  our chosen Model. Unity within the group is initially strengthened by such a process but eventually our Model begins to take fright, alerted to the fact that they are now surrounded by mirror images of their inner Self.

Such reflex fear leads to a psychic distancing from the Disciples in question. No longer seen as aids to their hidden narcissism, the follower clones are now perceived as rivals for the position of spiritual top dog. In often hasty but subtle defensive measures the Disciple who felt so wanted by their Model now begin to sense an undercurrent of emotional rejection. Believing themselves to have done something to displease the Model the sensitive disciple redoubles their efforts to be like their leader idol. Such a response leads to a further withdrawal of affection or acceptance by the Model who on the surface keeps up the charade of loving all within their care. And so, the spiraling scene is set, that will eventually lead to the expulsion of either Disciple or Model from the group or family in question.

Usually, it is the devoted Disciple who leaves the group, finally realizing that they are no longer wanted. Immediate disillusionment sets in as they gain a glimpse of  what has been going on in the subliminal realm of desire control and conscious group myth. Often anger bursts forth, maintaining the rivalry from afar or from the vantage point of a new group built around a new Model. Such an opportunity for awakening from the religious dream is often delayed as the Disciple replaces one Desire Model for another. Unfortunately history will repeat itself until the Disciple comes to a realization that the religious desire game is the same the world over, morphing itself to the cultural shape of each new group joined.

Yet this psychic expulsion from one’s historical group provides a great opportunity to sit back and examine the process that one has been involved in. Religious ego will want to wage a scapegoating guerrilla war against one’s ex-Model and their flock, but it is a waste of the little psychic energy remaining in one’s emotional tank. A cold turkey phase of withdrawal has kicked in, one which will need much compassion and non judgement for recovery to take place. The battlefield of religious dogma and ideology is not the place we want to find ourselves. Rather we need to step away from all things religious and let reality kick in no matter how painful it is.

Only in facing up to our own woundedness and analyzing our group desire journey can we begin to make sense of it all, a prerequisite to permanent healing and wholeness. So simply put, best not to jump back into a religious pot of metaphysical desire having been thrown out of a spiritually abusive frying pan! Rather be compassionate to your Self and let the dust of God desire settle; avoid religious desire transmitters for a while and enjoy being outside the psycho-spiritual desire field of flock membership. Remember, faith groups do not hold a franchise on the Divine Presence; Spirit Source is all too willing to begin the healing process in the so-called desert of non church attendance!

Spiritual Abuse & Mythic Mind Control

In my last post I suggested that we are locked into spiritual abuse by the desire matrix that freely flows within abusive groups;  groups whose subliminal goal is to suck us in, mold us and conform us to their Utopian image. Such a desire flux usually emanates from the group’s most ‘God-like’ member, often the founder or senior leader. Once we absorb their infectious desire we gradually morph into little clones of the anointed one,  further transmitting their  psychic energy around the group and to the outside world beyond. Such a network of transmissions quickly gives birth to a  group desire as our individual desire bonds are reinforced and reflected around the group. Over time we become little mirror images of each other in the bonded community or family of faith.

Once such a dynamic is present in a group, the level of  subliminal control can be raised a notch as each member mistakes their leader Model’s desire for that of their own. Remnants of our old individual desire are now suppressed in our lower unconscious, popping up occasionally but quickly misdiagnosed as the flesh or the Satan,  the destructive elements of our hell-bent pre-group life. As long as the leader or God Model keeps desire stream flowing, the group generally tows the psycho-spiritual line; at least until, a young pretender emerges from the mimetic discipleship process to challenge and perhaps replace the Model in question. But more of that in my next talk.

In the day-to-day life of the group, whilst subliminal desire locks in unsuspecting members another chain is added to maintain group cohesion and therefore any abusive control present. Simply put, both the leader Model and the group need a story, a metaphysical narrative of mythic proportions. On such a foundation or base story a philosophical world view or paradigm can be erected; one that cleverly hides the groups deadly desire exchanges in a quasi-logical protective, coating.

The group story is usually based on the early life events of its founder, especially on their initial encounters with the Divine. Often the unsuspecting, young future Model has a spiritual experience that somehow sets them apart from their religious peers. They appear as a shining light in the midst of a dark and apathetic religious sky. A beacon of hope for those fed up with dull orthodoxy, those hungering for an experiential contact with God. Strangely, the embryonic Model’s Divine encounter may in fact be genuine, yet the wounded psyche of the chosen one in question, quickly reinterprets it to protect themselves from further psychic pain and rejection. Perhaps starved of parental love as a youngster, the gifted individual feels a call to act as a spiritual parent to all who will listen. In the desert of religious nominalism such a fledgling apostle, prophet, pastor, or teacher doesn’t take long to gather a following of fellow seekers.

But why is the Model’s early life important to the group’s identity and narrative?

As the founder, the one who emerged, John The Baptist style, from the dry, religious desert, is seen as God’s parental figure, one from whom to receive nurture and genuine spiritual nourishment; a Moses of sorts to lead the seekers out of the religious ‘land of Egypt’ to the group’s ‘Promised Land’. Their  mythic-like ‘calling’ narrative is the bedrock upon which the group’s  future God narrative is built. Of course both Model and flock would insist that their view of the Divine is based on Divine revelation, whether Scriptural or Spirit directed, yet the interpretation of such revelation is channeled through the Model, the one who appears somehow closer to God. The authority granted to the Model through their personal myth now sets them apart to discern and teach Truth for the group. Amazingly, the willing group of listeners does not always comprise a membership with a low-level of education. Paradoxically it’s often a highly educated follower who lays aside their own take on spiritual or religious issues to sit under the authority of their charismatic Model. In my own case most of my fellow group members had university degrees, and jobs within the mainline professions, so it would appear  that intelligence is not a defense against the deadly desire matrix and its God cover story.

So what of this teaching?

The theological niceties of the teaching that the group is regularly exposed to, through sermons, literature and personal one-to-one counseling sessions are many and varied but usually have a common sociological message that runs something like this.

1) God started this group.

2) God continues to back this group

3) You have been chosen by God to belong to this group.

4) You are therefore special and indeed privileged.

5) God has appointed the leadership of this group

6) If you doubt the leadership of this group you are doubting God.

7) If you doubt the Scriptural message delivered through the leadership you are also doubting God.

8) If you leave this group, you are walking out on God.

9) Such a departure may have unspoken, eternal consequences

This subliminal or sometimes overt message is commonly peppered with multifarious religious words that add to the apparent orthodoxy of the group’s beliefs and practices. No religious, nor indeed spiritual word is ruled out of the groups vocabulary.

‘Grace’ , ‘Love’, ‘Family’, ‘Covenant’, ‘Brothers and Sisters’, ‘Faithfulness’, ‘Service’,'Spiritual Discipline’, ‘Children of God’, ‘Mission’, ‘Outreach’, ‘Prayer’, ‘Spiritual Warfare’, ‘Satan’, ‘Fasting’, ‘the Flesh’ etc. are all added to the group’s linguistic psychic mix, with their interpretations and practical out workings as defined by the group’s leadership.

And so the scene is set for abusive control.

At times, the Model subtly pulls the group’s mimetic desire strings by a demonstration of their own ravenous levels of  metaphysical hunger. Zealous preaching, prayer, weeping, special acts of rededication etc. acted out on in the public forum usually has the desired effect viz.the lukewarm flock are drawn back into the Model’s desire field, one cleverly disguised as a desire for God.

At other times, the Model abuses their followers by means of theological mind control, reinforcing the revelations that lock the faithful into a God, who is fickle with His Love; one who constantly needs appeasing through increased devotion to the group and of course to the Model. Dedication to the Divine is misinterpreted as dedication to the group, providing the Model with a large shepherd’s crook, one willingly used to keep the flock together; a flock that coincidentally maintains the Model’s career path within the world of religious enterprise.

In my next post I’ll look at how we can make a break for freedom; a freedom that, contrary to the group narrative, leads us into a genuine experience of Divine Love and personal authentication.

Spiritual Abuse ~ The Lock In

In my last post I looked at how we inadvertently enter into faith groups where the ultimate high of finding God is eventually replaced by a gnawing sense that something is not quite right. Such a psycho-spiritual itch is often a warning that we have swapped spiritual freedom for a subtle or not so subtle form of spiritual abuse.

Most of us don’t want to admit that we have suffered such abuse. Frankly it makes us look stupid both to ourselves and those to whom we are religiously joined. Yet, it’s an admission that must be made, if only for our ongoing mental and emotional health as well as our future psycho-spiritual freedom. Once we understand that spiritual abuse lies along an increasing spectrum of danger can we find the courage to ‘come out’ and place our experiences somewhere along the abuse line.

So what is going on when our lower unconscious begins to send us warning signals regarding our predicament and perhaps more importantly, why do we remain in such an environment, many of us for decades or more?

I see the problem as two-fold:

1) We are hooked onto the desire emanating from the leader(s) and that flowing from the collective group consciousness.

2) We hold a philosophical world view or paradigm that hides such desire exchanges in a quasi-logical protective and heavily disguised coating.

In this post I wish to examine the first of these. The second I will look at in my next post.

All faith groups of whatever flavor, hold out a taste of what it is to be in touch with God as the carrot to satisfy our metaphysical angst. They appear to act as a channel through which the Divine has chosen to flow, in its attempts to save the world. Our needy psyche-soul jumps at the chance to be at the supposed cutting edge of God’s dealings with mankind. The more radical the group the greater the thrill of being onboard the ride of our lives.

Many who have read my writings have suggested that I have it in for church leaders; not so. I see many of them as equal victims of the desire dynamic as much as their loyal flock. Some however do understand such a desire transfer and milk it for all they are worth. It is amazing what people will often do to ‘keep in touch’ with the Divine Will. When we see a wealthy religious leader we see one, not necessarily blessed by God, but one that has learned to use the tools of the metaphysical desire trade, a sort of spiritual snake-oil sales executive.

The more intense the ‘vision’ of the religious leader, the more we wish to join them in it. If such a vision has come from God, then who wouldn’t? In desiring to be like such a leader we thus open ourselves to possible manipulation and control, the very essence of spiritual abuse. Due to the subliminal nature of desire magnetism of mimesis , we follow such leaders into their latest interpretation of the Divine Will, one that often appears to benefit  the group’s psycho-spiritual cohesion  and the elevation of the leader’s particular mythical standing in the eyes of their followers.

The main tool of  desire exchange is the weekly ‘teaching’ or in the case of more sacramental faith groups, the weekly ritual. These are both powerful instruments in channeling the desire of the preacher or celebrant to the audience sitting before them. Much of this desire stems from the psyche of such a leader. If their psyche is deeply fragmented then its desire will be aimed at maintaining their personal safety in the midst of such a potential whirlpool of  desire fertilisation. If the one in question has undergone significant levels of psycho-spiritual healing then the desire can flow from their human spirit via the reintegrated psyche and into the ‘hearts’ or spirits off their audience. Summing up psyche to psyche desire transfer often ends in tears, spirit to spirit in further healing and inspiration.

So why the itch?

At some point in our group involvement we begin to sense that the leader has begun to put up a defensive barrier when we press in to drink of their desire flow. A state of confusion results as we begin to wonder what we’ve done wrong. If this person is a mouthpiece or representative of  God, and close to the Divine heart then we mistakenly interpret this new distancing of the leader as the very reaction of God Himself. The result is an increase in effort to try to please the Divinity and his representative. If the leader says jump we jump, believing ourselves to be jumping for Jesus!

Unfortunately our new efforts on the zeal front are misinterpreted by the leader. They perceive us as being after their Being! Our ever-increasing conformity to their will in the guise of Divine Will, sets off leadership alarm bells. ‘This follower is becoming so like me that they must want to replace me; bluntly put they must want my job!’

The resulting war footing, accompanied by its new levels of emotional control together with the follower’s fresh attempts to please ignite a desire chain reaction that will end in expulsion.

Leaders who spiritually abuse may be totally unaware of what they are doing, for they live the religious life through a wounded sub-personality that they keep hidden in the safety of their lower unconscious. The follower who is abused, caught up in the desire to please in order to obtain the being of the leader model is also unaware of the  psychological dynamic taking place; that is until the expulsion crisis pops up in the light of consciousness.

Finally let me look at the ‘group consciousness’ and its role in the abuse experienced. The strange thing about mimetic or desire groups is that they appear to have a life of their own one greater than the sum of their individual members. Just watch a large sport’s crowd or attendees at a stadium rock concert to see this group desire flow in action. In heightened states of consciousness, the group sends out a massive desire flow towards the performers. The performer in turn sends back a desire response that lifts the crowd to a whole new level of unity and desire buzz. This is the very nature of excitement.

The same dynamic occurs to varying degrees in faith groups in their weekly get-togethers known as meetings or services. Most religious groups have their focal person, whether they like to acknowledge it or not, and it is this channel of desire that brings unity and indeed conformity to the group identity. In essence the group and the leader are one. In an abusive group, the group subliminally mimic the abuse of their leader for their strength and unity is the conscious goal dressed up in religious language. Strangely though all the individual members of such groups are both abusers and the abused; scapegoaters and the scapegoated. All our oblivious to their dual state until the expulsion of a fellow member occurs, but during such a potential turning point the group and its leader are quick to neutralize the danger with a newly tweaked group narrative. And so the abuse continues.

Once we have discovered an authentic sense of Self, for perhaps the first time, Spirit Breath re-engages with us on our road to physical, psychic and spiritual wholeness. Knowing that our experience of Divine Love in the darkness of our broken humanity needs no defending nor justification we set about picking ourselves up and walking on towards we know not where. One thing we do know though is that we are different; something has changed within; the energy of our religious ego with all its past certainties and attack possibilities has dissipated. The buzz of religious rivalry and debate is nowhere to be seen, having been exorcised by the visit of the Other and its healing touch.

Wounded Healers

All is consumed in a knowing that we have nothing to fear before slowly walking forward into the manifest mysteries of Divine Love. Our previous sense of betrayal and disillusionment has been replaced by a confidence that indeed All is well, that we are somehow upheld by a Power and Presence that chooses to accompany us on the remainder of our Journey Home.

An important lesson lies ahead for us on this second pilgrimage. Now that we no longer play the religious games of organized religion with its rituals and not so subtle expectations, our spirit spark looks for an outlet, a means of sharing the Divine Life that stirs within. Without the traditional role plays of faith communities, we are suddenly overtaken by the synchronicity of events designed by our new Teacher. Simply put we begin to meet others along the Way who have had similar experiences to ourselves. This alone proves to be a further confirmation of the authenticity of our new take on spirituality and walking with the Divine. Yet something more shocking lies behind such meetings. We discover that the little drop of  Spirit Breath that dwells within flows out as a raging torrent to water the parched ground of our new friends psyche. The realization that Divine Love flows through us to feed and nurture the psyche-soul of another is a total shock to our fledgling Self identity. Yet in this Spirit exchange we emerge more fully into the Mystery that is the Love of God for man. In our frailty and weakness, One chooses to touch the wounded essence of another, igniting their spirit in a Divine Dance of Joy.

In our previous incarnations as zealous believers ‘ministry’ was a medal worn by the religious ego. A badge of honor proving our God promotion by a Commander-in-Chief who runs His people like a disciplined and purposeful army. Many of us scrambled around the religious scene seeking our ministries within the desire matrix of metaphysical purpose. Blocked and frustrated our desire to be used by God ultimately became a curse in the rivalry structures of Model based religion.

Now, only too aware of our own psychic limp, we find Divine Presence flowing through us without the accompaniment of ego and its search for identity. Our identity issue has well and truly been resolved in the darkness of our psychic brokenness. Now nothing matters except the connection and resonance with Love, the One who turned up when all others fell away. The dreams and aspirations of past years are now fulfilled as we touch the wounded soul and become a channel for Divine authentication.

Having been visited by Divine Love we inadvertently become the carriers of that Love; a Love that knows exactly who we’re to touch on the Way. Everything has changed – we can fix no-one. Religious words and sales pitches no longer do it. We have become walking transmitters of the Divine Presence; a Presence that is happy to manifest itself through our recovering humanity. A word, a look, a touch, a smile, all energized and planned by the Divine Lover in its all-consuming passion for reconnection with its reflected image.

As we continue our process of recovery from the addiction of enthusiastic religion we have been taught a most valuable and life changing lesson. No longer do we need to make things happen; Divine Love informs us that He/She can arrange all that it Wills. No longer are we on a ‘Blues Brother’ style, ‘Mission for God’. Instead we are being carried along by the Flow of Spirit Breath. Healing us as we go, the Divine Alchemist transforms us, the recovering patient into a healing channel for others on the Way. Truly a miracle fit for the Source of All, One determined to have wholeness at the End of Days.
